coda

Well, not really, but soon. About three weeks to be specific.

Coda is a really great app.

There are many outstanding things that have yet to be done, but I guess there’s only one path now, so it’s rather straightforward, just follow it and keep sharpening the sword. (which is rather blunt btw)

The organization (the bad one, not the good one) is proving a tough creature to shake off. It keeps clinging on like some parasite. Must bring the insecticide soon.

I try to avoid skipping timeframes in my thought journeys, but I can’t help but suppress the exam week from my plans. :P My 9600GT appears to be from a bad batch, artifacts on stock are never a good thing. I’ll probably be RMAing it after the exams. I wonder whether I should sell it off and get something else after that :D

I’ll be eagerly waiting for the next IT show, but until then its べんきょ till the exams haha.

strive

Well yes it seems I have not been really doing anything much for the past month that I could blog about. Then again, you could say that I have been doing too much such that I have no time to blog about anything, it will still hold true.

It’s been busy really, can’t tell whether it’s busier than in Year 3 or not but it sure seems like it. Either that or I don’t have as much energy as before.

IOC is next monday, I’m doing poems and haven’t had the chance to really go through each one of them. I haven’t had any time this week but I should have an afternoon and an evening tomorrow to dedicate solely to preparing for it.

In the screwed up organization news, I’ve been given a gold UG award by none other than ransom. And the other screwed up undeserving woah has gotten the sword. They should’ve given it to LZ, at least he’s got a nice and humble personality and does his work without giving a stupid smug face. So hurry up and pass out/ROD already, I no longer want to be part of this screwed up storybook. Who likes being trapped in between the top rung of the ladder and second-top rung and not being able to move forward, it’s a frustrating experience. Woe betide the whole screwed up organization. I was never impressed by it.

In more cheerful news, I’ve been helping people build computers lately, all using the same P5K + E8400 combo, and I must say it is really a good choice. They complement each other. I’ve got two upcoming rigs to build for various people, but this time I’ll be giving the P5Q a shot instead. Asus boards are good if the intended clients don’t need obscure BIOS features, voltage options and memtests. They work, and they last, that’s all that matters.

I’m faced with a dilemma now over whether to accept presidency for the other (better) organization. I’ll be getting on with an essay soon about how jolly is a better candidate. :P

These few weeks my standard of well-being has dropped much. I’m struggling to sustain it. I’ve been deprived of sleep almost every other day, have quite a backlog of overdue work and upcoming project datelines and seem to have a general deficiency of energy. Not to mention screwed-up presentations. If only the cinematics in Crysis could become a reality, the water and the beach almost look inviting.

Spurred on by history lessons, I intend to implement a Five-Month Plan consisting of the Ten Work Points in order to try achieve a Great Leap Forward in my academia. With any luck it won’t end up a failure like the actual Great Leap Forward. Wishful thinking indeed

It’s 11:38PM now and I feel sleepy. The whole problem is that once I get into bed I don’t feel sleepy anymore. I think this has been brought up before in a Lucky Star episode. Hmm.

When is the 16th episode of S-A coming out meh.

fragment

My mind is in a state of fragmentation. The thoughts in it are starting to unravel themselves from the tightly compressed entity it was. It has started to shut down higher-level processes in reorganizing memory anagrams, much like a sleep state. I’m not resisting it, instead opting to let it reinitialize itself over time.

Then again I will need my higher order thought processes in order to attempt doing the comparative essay, which is due very soonly. However I take comfort in that at least the more important part of CL holiday homework is done.

I’ve started to replay Far Cry, it is amusing, though not as glitch prone as Crysis.

Other than that, things have been really quiet, and there hasn’t really been much to do other than work, both curricular and co-curricular. The WP.com debacle has raised some questions, though I don’t really mind as long as it doesn’t affect me. In any case I’m currently not prepared to self-host, maybe next time.

I’ve completed about 650 words of my comparative essay so far, and had the opportunity to discuss with a couple of friends earlier about it. Ideas certainly flow much more easily in a group setting with the right people and situation.

snowy came back from repair about a week ago, though they didn’t change the screen, they did change the top case giving it the new macbook feel again, it came with a plastic protector too complete with part number stickers and dates. My 1-year warranty officially ends tomorrow and I’m sure snowy will hold up for the next two years.

I’ve also had the time to pull the pictures I took from the major changes I made to carbon during the hols, mainly an XpertVision 9600GT and bling.

hehe

Everyone loves tyre-hugging North Koreans! :D

The sparks are really something to behold.. until you realize the vehicle isn’t even moving at all. :P

On a separate note, World In Conflict has beautiful graphics. You should check it out sometime. It’s almost FPS-quality.

I’ve finally gotten my 9600GT, from the shop I least expected to have stock (you know, VP). It’s an XpertVision card, of which I’m thoroughly impressed by. For $179 it’s exactly the same price at which I bought my ASUS 8600GT at, though this card is the dual-DVI one, not the direct HDMI connection one. As some have already heard (both literally and figuratively), the fan sounds like a jet engine when set at 100%, being louder than all other fans in my case.

Thankfully the driver automatically tones it down to 35% most of the time. As expected, its a dual slot card due to the height of the large heatsink, which is reminiscent  of the Thermaltake Golden Orb.

Performance-wise it is very satisfying, no problems with Crysis on high settings at 1024×768, it manages to keep the average framerate above 30fps most of the time. Haven’t needed to overclock it yet. This card is the second-last item in the upgrade path planned out for carbon. The last will be the CPU, which will probably be a high-end K8 chip when the prices fall enough, or a PhenomX3/4, depending on the situation. No rush for this though.

Time to get some UV bling and blowholes cut.

To all involved whom misunderstood, I’m.. sorry.

autopsy

Coroner’s preliminary report: Your handling of the situation, even if it was unprovoked, was less than satisfactory. Because of your actions, more parties have been offended however unintentionally. You should not have issued a statement so hastily before contacting High Command over the appropriate response.

Recommended mode of action: Keep a low profile for the foreseeable period of time. Avoid unnecessary contact and wait for the appropriate time to resurface. While it is understood that your sense of humour is selective, over the course of this period you should try to increase internal tolerance levels to a more society-acceptable level.

Misc. remarks: The display of lack of trust by your parents is indeed upsetting. However unlike the previous incident, it is still salvagable. Apply what you have learnt from handling the previous situation.

Total XP gained: -435

The current status quo is:

hate

1) Without any provocation whatsoever, distateful, disgusting gender-bending photo is published in public-domain without consent nor acknowledgment

2) Repeated attempts to make perpetrator cease and desist fail

3) Picture left online for entire day

4) Anger and drowsiness combined cause missing out of vital speech-director in comment

5) Comment misunderstood by others

Yes maybe I’m not cut out for society, I will admit that now in public. Feel free to avoid me, I won’t take offense or blame you for your actions.

Twin troubles.
Wronged without any provocation by others, wronged by parents at home.
No one siding with me outside, no one siding with me at home.

I guess everyone hates me now.

I hate my life.

Just leave me alone, and forget I exist.

spin

I seemed to have ridden out my sad/depression spell, not sure why. Probably due to study and exam matters being of higher priority at the current moment to worry about unnecessary stuff.

As you can see I’ve switched back to my original theme after going on a wild theme chase. Until some better themes come out I guess I’ll be sticking with this one, cuz I don’t really go for themes with light backgrounds.

The exams are really really near now and I’ve more or less transitioned most major systems to study mode, as of now I’ve made satisfactory headway into Chemistry, Maths and will be shortly going into Physics and History as more systems warm up. This week will probably be the burn-in week and preparations are almost done if not complete. As of now snowy is in cold storage while carbon has most if not all of the lesson notes in soft copy. The main stage area of the desk has been hastily evacuated and is now occupied by books, files, papers and notebooks. I’ve also scrambled a second mouse to carbon’s front I/O for easy controlling without having to move my chair. Hopefully all that’s done would greatly increase the effectiveness of the workflow.

In the meantime I’ve improvised a small 40mm from cardobox’s original CPU HSF and am using it to cool down my 690G northbridge. The difference in temperature is drastic and the improvement can be seen right away, for one there are less BSOD’s when the IGP is loaded. I can’t believe AMD recommended such a tiny heatsink as their reference design. It can barely cope with the heat output when loaded without any active cooling.

Accounting reports financial situation is relatively good with little surpluses here and there, a payoff of disciplined spending habits and controlled indulgence. Looks like the path to the 9600GT is clear.

In the Organizational front, things have been developing though at a slow pace. It seems there will be some interesting outcomes after the exams are over. Until then I will not speculate. Also by my grace (thank you :P ) the room has not only been bombed with power strips, but now with 20″ LCDs at 1680×1050. I hope to continue spending your budget for yours sincerely in the months to come :P

Work time.

bog

Here’s that unique four-column layout I was talking about earlier. :P

I’m writing this post out of desperation. I just managed to squeeze out the 15 minutes it takes to write this. I am totally bogged down by work. It is stifling. It is choking. I’m trapped in a bog. If I don’t complete it people will start questioning and impressions will drop. So many things to remember, so many things are forgotten. I feel defeated. I feel that I’m just here for myself, I’m starting to adopt an indifferent attitude on most things, not really caring much, leading people to think I’m an antisocial.

What to do? Work is work.
Sorry if I seem absent-minded lately.

It’s heartening to see some people reading my posts.

On a side note, I got carbon some HyperX’s today. Haven’t had time to play with the timings yet though it’s settled at 800MHz @ 4-4-4-12 for the moment.

I feel unwanted.
